Every morning I rise and give thanks for another day to learn and become a better woman and entrepreneur, who up levels my values, skillsets, and mindset to provide you with top quality service that will guarantee the outcome of your expectations.
I am Gillian, also known as Queen Gee, and I have over 15 years of experience in radio broadcasting, business development, content writing, and over 10 years promoting my business and clients on social media.
I am from Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica where I started my career in radio broadcasting and sales but migrated to City Kingston where I currently reside and operate my business – Mystique Professional Services.
My career started when I gained employment with a reputable law firm in Savanna-la-Mar as an assistant secretary. While working there I became the secretary/manager for a non-governmental organization that was founded by the attorney who owned the law firm.
This NGO was established to foster development in the parish of Westmoreland; to facilitate skills training for youth development, and to work with various organizations to inform stakeholders about plans for developing various industries in the parish.
It was from this early beginning that I started acquiring hands-on knowledge of events planning – setting up various seminars, meetings, skills training programs, and social events for the organization.
The professionalism with which I functioned did not go unnoticed and this landed me a position with VYBZ 96.3 FM, a community radio station in Savanna-la-Mar, as sales and marketing representative from May 2004 to May 2010. This also opened a new avenue for me, as I also worked as a radio show host from September 2005 – May 2010.
The knowledge and opportunities gained in this new role exposed me to the entertainment industry, through live broadcasts in the studio and other locations, interviews of various local and international entertainers, event promoters, and entrepreneurs.
Radio broadcasting provided new knowledge and opened doors to meet and socialize with talented and affluent persons in the entertainment industry. Though I loved and excelled in broadcasting, I did not give up my position in the sales and marketing department and was later promoted to assistant sales manager. My determination to remain in this department came out of my passion for planning, creativity, and providing the expected result.
After leaving the radio station in 2010, I was employed to the Western Mirror (newspaper) as a news correspondent for the parish of Westmoreland. Though this was short-lived, I gained significant experience as a writer and news reporter.
I later started to freelance as a publicist, assisting local-upcoming artistes with writing press releases, organizing event launches and social media promotions. I also continued to offer sales services to radio stations, such as Bess 100 FM, Suncity Radio and Irie FM.
The Birth of Mystique PR
In November 2017, I decided to officially launch my Entertainment Public Relations Consultancy and Services business, offering PR services to help independent reggae and dancehall musicians.
As PR Strategist, I manage their public image and build meaningful relationships through tactical public relations practices and effective campaign strategies.
I also utilize my skills to assist fashion, as well as health and wellness brands to reach their target audience to boost conversion through copy and content writing and social media management.
My Other Interests
I will continue to learn and grow while loving and serving others:
- Making time for family and friends
- Personal and Spiritual development
- Hosting various events (event emcee)
- Outreach – helping others who are less fortunate
- Youth development – inspiring our youths through mentorship and nutrition programs.
For me, there is no limit. If you try and fail, keep trying. Always remember that every experience, no matter how short-lived, plays a vital role in your development. Keep adding them together to be joyful, peaceful, helpful, and successful.
