Personal Brand: Why I Built One Purpose-Led Brand That Grows
Building a personal brand has been one of the most important decisions I have made, but it did not happen overnight. For a long time, I wondered whether I needed a separate brand for every passion, every business idea, and every opportunity that came my way.
At different points, I questioned whether to focus on herbal wellness, container gardening, crochet, or my work as an independent, relationship-led B2B sales partner. They all mattered to me, yet they seemed like separate paths. I worried that sharing all of them would confuse people or make it hard for others to understand what I stood for.
The more I sat with that question, the clearer the answer became. I was not building four different businesses. I was expressing one life lived with intention.
My container garden reflects my commitment to growing wellness. My daily bush tea rituals remind me to slow down and care for my health. My crochet creations allow me to bring beauty into people’s homes. My work as an independent B2B sales partner allows me to help purpose-driven Jamaican wellness, garden, and sustainable lifestyle businesses reach more people through meaningful relationships.
What once looked like four separate identities turned out to be four expressions of the same purpose. Instead of asking, “Which business should I build?” I started asking, “What kind of life do I want my personal brand to represent?“
The answer became clear: Growing wellness, creating beauty, living confidently, and building meaningful relationships. This philosophy now guides everything I share, create, and build.

A Personal Brand Built Around Purpose, Not Products
Once I stopped thinking about my work as separate businesses, I began to see a common thread running through all of it. My personal brand is not built around selling products or promoting services. It is built around a purpose that has been expressed in different ways throughout my life. Four pillars guide every piece of content I create, every product I design, and every relationship I build.
Growing Wellness: Wellness is where my journey begins. Through herbs, traditional Jamaican bush teas, and small-space container gardening, I share what I am learning about caring for the body naturally. My goal is not to tell people they need a large backyard or years of experience to start. One pot of mint, one cup of bush tea, or one small step can be the beginning of a healthier lifestyle.
Creating Beauty: I believe beauty enriches our lives. Through Crochet by Queen Gee, I create handmade pieces that bring warmth, confidence, and function into everyday living. A crochet plant hanger that helps someone grow vertically in a small space, a handcrafted table runner that makes a home feel welcoming, or a custom ruffle hat that helps a woman feel confident are each made with intention and care.

Living Confidently: As a Jamaican woman in my fifties, I am learning that confidence is not something we wake up with one day. It is something we cultivate through intentional choices, meaningful work, and a willingness to keep growing. I share both the joyful moments and the lessons learned, hoping they encourage others to embrace every stage of life with purpose rather than perfection.
Building Meaningful Relationships: I combined two decades of experience in media, sales, and relationship building with my passion for wellness. As an independent, relationship-led B2B sales partner, I help established Jamaican wellness, garden, and sustainable lifestyle businesses connect their products with more retailers, more customers, and more communities.
Together, these four pillars are more than content categories. They are the values that shape my life and the foundation of the personal brand I am building, one rooted in purpose, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help people and businesses grow.
How My Personal Brand Connects Everything I Do
One of the biggest lessons I have learned while building my personal brand is that I do not need separate lives for each of my interests. I simply need to tell one authentic story from different perspectives.
A quiet morning is a good example. I might begin the day by harvesting a few sprigs of Green Mint from my container garden, brewing a fresh cup of bush tea, then sitting outside with my crochet hook and yarn to work on a plant hanger or a custom ruffle hat.
Those moments might look unrelated at first glance, but they are connected. I am caring for my wellness through herbs and tea rituals, creating beauty through crochet, and documenting a lifestyle rooted in intention. Because I naturally capture photos and video throughout, that one morning becomes the inspiration for several pieces of content, each shared with a different audience and purpose.
For my Gillian Larmond platform, that same moment becomes a story about herbal wellness, container gardening, intentional living, or a lesson that connects naturally to relationship-led business growth.
For Crochet by Queen Gee, that same moment becomes a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, focused on craftsmanship and the finished piece.
The story stays the same. Only the perspective changes.
I think of Gillian Larmond and Crochet by Queen Gee as two branches of the same tree, not two disconnected brands. Gillian Larmond shares the purpose, the journey, and the lifestyle. Crochet by Queen Gee showcases the handmade creations inspired by that life. Together, they tell one cohesive story: a life dedicated to growing wellness, creating beauty, living confidently, and building meaningful relationships.

Why I Chose Relationships Over Transactions
One question I occasionally ask myself is this: if my passion is herbal wellness, why spend so much time in sales?
The answer became clear as my container garden continued to grow. Every time I harvest fresh Green Mint for tea or share what I am learning about traditional Jamaican plants, I am reminded of how much I enjoy helping people discover simple ways to care for their health. My little backyard garden also taught me something humbling: no matter how carefully I tend my herbs, I can only grow so much. I can inspire people through my own journey, but I cannot improve the health of the masses from a handful of pots.
That realization changed how I viewed my career. Instead of asking how I could grow more herbs, I began asking how I could help more people gain access to the products and resources that support healthier living. The answer was not to become a large-scale grower. It was to put the skills I had already spent two decades developing in media, sales, and relationship building to work for that same mission.
Today, as an independent, relationship-led B2B sales partner, I work with established Jamaican wellness, garden, and sustainable lifestyle businesses that are already creating products capable of improving people’s lives. By helping those businesses build meaningful relationships with retailers, distributors, and customers, I help their products reach far more people than my own garden ever could.
To me, relationship-led sales is another way of cultivating wellness. Instead of growing herbs, I am helping purpose-driven businesses grow their reach.
When relationships come before transactions, everybody benefits: businesses grow sustainably, customers discover products they can trust, and healthy, intentional living becomes more accessible to the communities we serve. Growing wellness is not only about the herbs I cultivate in my own backyard. It is also about helping the right people, products, and businesses reach the communities they were created to serve.
If You’ve Ever Felt Like You Had Too Many Interests…
If you have ever felt like you had too many interests to fit into one box, I understand.
For a long time, I wondered whether I should focus on herbal wellness, container gardening, crochet, or relationship-led B2B sales. Every time I thought I had decided, another passion would quietly remind me that it also belonged. It was easy to believe I had to choose one path and leave the others behind.
What I eventually discovered was that I was not struggling because I had too many interests. I was struggling because I had not yet identified the purpose that connected them. Once I stopped asking, “Which one should I choose?” and started asking, “What do they all have in common?” everything became clearer.
My herbs, my garden, my crochet, and my business are not competing for attention. They all support the same mission: helping people grow healthier, more intentional lives, and helping purpose-driven businesses extend that impact even further.
Perhaps you are in a similar season of life. Maybe you have spent years developing different skills, pursuing different passions, or wondering how all the pieces fit together. Instead of asking which part of your story to leave behind, consider asking what thread has been running through your story all along.
Sometimes the answer is not choosing one interest over another. Sometimes the answer is discovering the purpose that gives every interest a place. That was the turning point for me, and perhaps it could be for you, too.
My Hope for This Community
I hope this space becomes more than a website. I hope it becomes a place where people feel encouraged to grow at their own pace and discover that intentional living does not have to be complicated.
Whether you found me because you are interested in herbs, traditional bush teas, container gardening, handmade crochet, living confidently after 50, or building a purpose-driven business, you are welcome here.
You do not need a perfect garden, to know every herb by name, or years of business experience to belong. You simply need a willingness to learn, to grow, and to embrace the season of life you are in.
As I continue documenting my own journey, I hope you will find practical ideas, honest reflections, and gentle encouragement that inspire you to take your own next step, whether that is planting your first herb, brewing your first cup of bush tea, creating something beautiful with your hands, or building stronger relationships in your life or business.
We are all growing something. I am grateful that you are here to grow alongside me.

Finally…
Building this personal brand has taught me something I wish I had understood much earlier. I did not need to choose between my passions. I simply needed to discover the purpose that connected them.
Today, my personal brand is not about trying to do everything. It is about living one intentional life where wellness, creativity, confidence, and meaningful relationships naturally belong together. Every herb I grow, every cup of bush tea I brew, every crochet piece I create, and every relationship I build reflects the same belief: small, intentional actions have the power to create meaningful change.
If my journey encourages just one person to plant their first herb, slow down for a quiet cup of tea, create something with their own hands, or build a business through genuine relationships, then sharing it has been worthwhile.
Wherever you are on your journey, remember this: grow wellness, create beauty, live confidently, build meaningful relationships. Above all, grow with purpose.
